What does memory defrag / compression do? There seems actual compression of program memory, not simply recovery lost space.

Basically MemInfo memory defragmenter instructs every running process to free as much as memory possible.

If you compare the memory values of the applications (which can be shown on the tray menu) before and after the defrag you will notice a significant drop of memory usage in all applications
