It'd be great if this issue could be resolved though. Without ClearType, text on LCD displays looks pretty average.
Perhaps you could port the software into a different rendering engine? I am not a programmer so I don't know what issues you face - but a lot of developers seem to be able to do transparency with ClearType on.
